There’s a chill in the air, the days are getting shorter, the shadows longer…fall is one of my favorite times of the year. And not only because of the lovely colors and crisp, clear days…some of my favorite things about autumn are the seasonal foods that are so delicious this time of year!
Take soup, for instance. Finally, it’s cool enough to enjoy a bowl of vegetable soup or chili or potato chowder! And I’m not afraid to fire up my oven and bake up some bread or muffins. And what’s fall without a caramel apple?
One of my all-time favorite cookbooks is Simply in Season by Mary Beth Lind and Cathleen Hockman-Wert. Not only does it include DELICIOUS recipes, but it is organized by season — so all those wonderful fall foods I’m craving this time of year are there for the cooking, so to speak.
There is also a companion volume written for children, appropriately titled Simply in Season Children’s Cookbook, with simple recipes for the younger generation.
What are some of YOUR favorite seasonal cookbooks?
