Summertime is fun and free and, at least in Fort Wayne, it has a soundtrack. Free music concerts are easy to find in Fort Wayne, and the Allen County Public Library is a big part of that. Every Saturday from June first through August 24th Rock the Plaza at the Main library is a live concert on the plaza from 6 to 10 p.m. I went for the Three Rivers Festival fireworks last year and I enjoyed this scene quite a bit. These photos are from the Rock the Plaza Facebook page. For a schedule of bands click here.
ACPL also helps Georgetown Square with their fourth Friday concerts in the summer. Georgetown branch library got some new outdoor wiring so that bands can hook up and be heard at Georgetown Square Shopping Center. These fourth Fridays are also kids days at Georgetown Square. The first kids day/concert is this evening from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. It will include the Junk Yard band, a barbershop quartet and a classic car show. July 26 will feature Urban Legend, and the Fort Wayne ballet will perform, as well. August 23 features Renegade with Top 40’s country music. The Snider High School Marching band will also put in an appearance.
If that isn’t enough to satisfy your music appetite, the Foellinger Outdoor Theatre has a mixture of free and ticketed concerts. Check out the Visit Fort Wayne website for a listing of those and even more!
