The third annual Maker Faire sponsored by TekVenture is just around the corner! It will take place at Headwaters Park on September 14 and 15, 2013. Now is the time to reserve your space if you are a maker! The deadline for entries is August 9. Exhibiting is free, but if you are a vendor or a company of 3 or more intending to sell your wares, there is a fee. In the past there have been glass blowers, alternative powered cars, up-cycled products, welding, crafts, and of course, music and food.
The Maker Faire features makers who bring interactive material for the crowds to try: arts, crafts, welding, 3D printing, both old and new technology. Last year, Eran Park, a glass blower, made round marbles and participants put the marbles into leaf forms, which were combined to make a glass tree for Fort Wayne. They are looking for new ideas to add to these activities.
The Faire is a fund-raiser for Tek-Venture, so if you are interested in volunteering, sponsoring or exhibiting, contact them at firstname.lastname@example.org. Tickets to attend are $10.00 for adults and $6.00 for children for one day, or $18.00 and $10.00 for the weekend. They are available in advance as well as at the gate.
