Your game club has outgrown your kitchen. Who you gonna call? Library!
One of the best things about our library system is the attractive meeting rooms available to the public, in many cases free of charge. Main Library has about 3,000 square feet of space. That includes three large rooms, one small one, three study rooms and a full-fledged theater.
The downtown rooms are open for social, business, political, religious and other kinds of gatherings. There are fees for some kinds of uses, but they are not high. Here’s a link to the page that has more specific information about fees and other guidelines: http://www.acpl.lib.in.us/home/meetingrooms . That link also gives you contact information for reserving a room at Main.
All 13 branches also have meeting rooms, but you’ll want to check with yours for its policies and availability. Here’s a page with links to contact information about each branch: http://www.acpl.lib.in.us/home/locations .
Public libraries are about more than books and movies and computers. They’re also about building community, and providing clean, safe gathering places is a big part of that role.
