Lovin’ my ereader

I’ve been the owner of an ereader (a Nook color) for a little over a year now, and I love it. Don’t get me wrong, I still treasure my hardbacks and paperbacks, but my ereader gets used on a daily basis, and I can honestly say I am so happy to have it.  Here are some of the great things about my ereader:

*I can store a lot of books in a small space.  I tend to read several books at once and often have several more books checked out from the library that I’m planning to read next.  This results in books ALL OVER my house.  With my ereader, all the books are stored on one device, creating less mess and taking up less space.

*No late fees!  When you check out ebooks from the library, they simply disappear off of your device at the end of the lending period, so you never get a late fee.  You would think that as a library employee, I would be at the library often enough that I would never have late items, but at least once a month I forget something is due and leave it at home.

*When I encounter a word I don’t know, I can look it up right there on my Nook.  It sounds silly, but when reading I often run into words I don’t know the meaning of, and with my Nook I just touch the word and it takes me right to dictionary.com where I can learn the meaning.

*I can check out library books from home even when the library is closed.  Before I had my ereader, I would often find myself wishing the library was open late at night because there was a specific book I wanted right then.  Now, I can check out ebooks 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

*I can check out library books while lying on the couch wearing my pajamas.  Who doesn’t love that?

Do you have an ereader?  What do you love about it?
